Job 1 - Connect a Console to a TV

Brief - Connect a PS3 to a Scart RBG, Component, HDMI, VGA or DVI display device, and adjust the system/display device settings to produce an optimal image

Connecting a console to a TV system, Today I will be talking about how to connect a PS3 console to a TV setup, Many consoles have the same layout and set up as this, Follow the steps carefully to ensure the consoles functionality

Step 1 (Connecting Power to the TV Unit)

First you need to make sure your TV is connected and working correctly, before we do this we need to plug the TV from the DC port to the wall outlet, some TV sets are slightly different when it comes to this step so always refer to your TV instructions and Precautions

Step 2 (Connecting your TV Adapter to the Wall Outlet)

The second step to connecting your console is to make sure your TV is securely plugged into a wall outlet suitable for your TV set when the plugs securely in the wall then proceed to switch it on

Step 3 (Check your Connections)

You always need to check what connections your dealing with and the best way is to physically hold up the console and look what ports go where, as we can see we have

  • Network Port (Ethernet)
  • Optical Port (Audio)
  • HDMI Port
  • RGB Port
  • DC Power Outlet

Step 4 (Connect your DC Cable to your PS3)

Now you need to connect the power outlet cable to your PS3, but you need to make sure this isn't connected to the wall outlet because it might cause a risk of electric shock

Step 5 (Connecting your PS3 to the Wall Outlet)

Now its safe to connect your DC power lead to the wall outlet, be sure to make sure you have a secure connection before you switch the socket on

Step 6 (Connecting the RGB Cables to the TV)

Now you can connect your PS3/Console to your TV a number of ways, you could go for a HDMI cable for a full high definition picture, you can connect though component for a HD ready effect picture, or you can connect via Scart/RGB for a standard picture resolution.

We are going to connect though standard RGB picture (colour cables). You first need to connect the colours with the corresponding outlets on your TV and make sure you have a secure fit

Yellow - Video
Red - Right Audio
White - Left Audio

Step 7 (Connecting your Console to the RGB Port on your System)

Next we need to connect the RGB cable to your console, you do this by connecting the other end to the RGB port on the back of the PS3 console (if you are using HDMI, the port is situated next to the RGB port)

Step 8 (Turning on)

The last step is to now turn out console on and set the AV source on your TV to play though either the HDMI or AV ports on your TV, mine was already set up so as soon as my TV was on and PS3 console was on they connected together displaying a picture from the PS3
